lyrics

Verse: Jess
You won't know
The things you do not try
You can't go
To places you deny
I fear the things that aren't like me
I fear the places I could be
I fear the truth won't set me free
I fear
I fear the depths of my own soul
I fear the pain that it holds
I fear the trial of growing old
I fear
Bang Bang
Release the pressure coming at me
Bang Bang
Unleash the terror planned to see
And fear
You won't know
The things you do not try
You can't go
To places you deny
I fear what lies behind your tone
I fear I might be left alone
I fear where the wild things roam
I fear
I fear the time it takes to heal
I fear the things you say aren't real
I fear the the ways you make me feel
I fear

Verse: Moxie
academic society
the educational institution
say he’s spillin verbal pollution
To the children
And abusing his power by refusing
To follow the scholars
He’s not white collared
And his words continue to bother
Conservative fathers
Who attend PTO meetings to holler
they don’t want him counseling their daughters
Suburban mothers
All up in arms and wantin to sound the alarms
Because his arms are covered in art
And he don’t look the part
And from the start
They circle like sharks
Because his lyrical content has lit a spark
And started a revolution with the art geeks
And the gothic freaks
And the prom queens hidin cut marks under her sleeves
and the entire mother fuckin football team
who haven’t seen one defeat on the field
but in his office they let down the shield
and expose the layers they’ve peeled
to reveal
open wounds they cant seem to heal
cuz there’s no money at home for a hot meal
yet still
coach doesn’t accept any excuses on the field
so its extra drills pushin the dummy on wheels
until he feels like there’s no hope
so on the 1 hour walk home
he goes into the forest
and ends the whole fucking show with a shot to the dome

Bridge: Jess

A nuisance and a bother
To the parents of straight A daughters
Who’s mothers and fathers
Fear the tattoos under his collar
Will have a negative influence on their young scholars
But while the
Debate rages in the principal’s office
The young scholar shows off this
Journal that documents cuts and nicks
On the small of the hip to keep em hid
Cant pop the lid and expose the self abuse
b/c mom and dad will simply choose
to refuse to acknowledge anything less than college
so while they keep stallin
and refusing therapy
the cutting increases in frequency
and soon she’ll be
fearing the
inevitable move from high school to freshman year
without the counselor here
to process the suicidal thoughts and fears
so the debate rages on in the superintendants ears
about how HR brought this rapper here
to work with their children who could so easily be steered
in the wrong direction
while in his office he’s teaching self reflection
and how to use the lessons from mistakes made
each and every day
to be a productive citizen on the world stage
to take the pen and scribble over the page
to find success in your own way
and not let the constraints
of society or fate
remove that smile from your face
as you continue on the chase to that place
where happiness remains
